After seven years at York College of Pennsylvania, I was awarded a one-semester sabbatical. Taking a sabbatical at this precise pivot point is not just a nice-to-have break; it is a strategic necessity. For me, it is not only the moment when I was able to reboot myself personally, but also the moment when I successfully steered my academic portfolio toward slightly different goals for the next five years.
